When the world shut down in 2020, Lance Hill of Fayetteville, Arkansas, faced the pandemic with a bold decision: to grow a mullet. Initially, it was a rough start—a “sight for sore eyes,” as he described it. Seeking guidance, he joined a Facebook group called “The Mullet That Changed My Life,” where he learned unconventional hair care techniques, such as using eagle egg yolk as shampoo, air-drying while riding a dirt bike, and brushing with a pine comb.
These methods transformed his hairstyle into a symbol of freedom and resilience, earning it the nickname “The WAP Mop,” also known as “The Arkansas Waterfall.” Embracing the spirit of a “living spree,” Lance’s mullet became more than just a haircut—it was a statement of individuality and perseverance during challenging times.
By 2024, his distinctive mullet gained national attention when he became a contestant in the USA Mullet Championships, showcasing the enduring appeal of this iconic hairstyle. From a pandemic project to a celebrated symbol of self-expression, “The WAP Mop” stands as a testament to embracing one’s unique style and living life unapologetically.
